ENRICH YOUT FORUM
Enrich Youth Forum is Enrich's initiative created to bring together youth, researchers and practitioners in one of the largest youth events in the country. The forum provides a platform for youth to learn and share from senior researchers and practitioners and especially from one another. From such learning, the forum aims to inspire and empower youth to improve themselves and contribute to the society. The forum is organized once a year, with different theme for each year. Depending on the theme, the forum include a combination activities such as presentation, panel discussion, competition, role play and performance, exhibition, study tour and field visit, etc.
After successfully hosted its 1st and 2nd Forum, Enrich Youth is proud to organize its 3rd youth forum under the theme “Youth and ASEAN Integration” on November 16, 2014. Cambodia is to be integrated into ASEAN community in 2015. ASEAN integration presents both opportunities and challenges for Cambodia, one of the least developed members in the region. Cambodia’s relatively low wages are likely to attract more foreign investment. However, the free movement of labor poses tough challenges for the Cambodian workforce as they will have to compete for jobs with their foreign counterparts. Many Cambodian students have already expressed their fear of not being able to find jobs after graduation. Many analysts say that youth are ill prepared for ASEAN integration and urgent policy are needed help Cambodia youth be ready to grab the opportunities.
EYF 2: Youth and Enterprenuership
After successfully hosted its first Forum in March 2013, Enrich Institute organized its second youth forum under the theme “Youth and Entrepreneurship” in September 29, 2013. The aim of this forum is to contribute to Cambodia’s competitiveness and to accelerate its economic growth through promoting the entrepreneurial mindset in the next generation. The youth unemployment rate is increasing in many regions including in Cambodia. Youth unemployment imposes not only widespread unhappiness and social discontent among youth, but also carries tremendous economic and social costs. Within the framework of potential efforts and strategies to boost employment and job creation for young people, entrepreneurship is increasingly accepted as an important means and a useful alternative for income generation in young people .
EYF 1: Smart Goal for Smart Youth
Enrich is proud to organize its first youth forum under the theme “Smart goal for smart youth” on March 24, 2013 at the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center in Phnom Penh. The forum was participated by 500 people, including high school and university students, NGO representatives, private sector representative, the media and the public. Goals are what take us forward in life. They are the first steps to every journey we embark on and the foundation for all of the steps in between. Youth should try to make goals (short term or long term) throughout their life, because only through this process of goal setting can they ever become successful. Goals are what give us direction in life. By setting goals we give ourselves a target to shoot for. This direction allows our minds to focus on the target and rather than waste energy shooting here and there, allows us to hit the target and reach our goal. By setting goals we are also able to measure our progress as we always have a definite endpoint in mind. When we set goals we are given a certain sense of responsibility. It is this sense of responsibility which helps to overcome procrastination and laziness. In the end one of the main purposes of goal setting is to provide motivation and drive. Having goals by your side is like having an unlimited supply of fuel to push you forward.
